About

The Backsteps are a Rock band from Canada whose members have been active in their local music scenes since 2015. Seth Hunt (guitar and vocals) and Devin Pierce (drums) started the first iteration of the band in 2015 under the name Mudd and quickly started writing original songs and playing shows in their hometown of Kingston, Ontario. In 2017 they changed their name to Figure 8 and in 2018 they picked up a new member, Luke Garrison (bass and vocals).

After another few months of making demos and playing shows, the band had the chance to record a couple of singles with a local producer. The singles gained streams in multiple countries and made their way into rotation on local radio stations. By the end of 2019, the band was building a bigger fanbase and playing more shows across Ontario. They added their final edition to the lineup, Josh McEvoy (guitar), finalized their name as The Backsteps, and decided that making a career from their music was going to be the long-term goal of the band.

In early 2020 The Backsteps recorded a full-length demo, "Oh Yeah", which was released in July of the same year. Like the singles that had come before, “Oh Yeah” gained tens of thousands of streams across multiple countries which garnered the band interest from Canadian talent management companies. The Backsteps promoted their demo by playing a variety of shows across Ontario including a spot at The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto.

After self-releasing their debut album “Goodbye Youth” in the summer of 2021, The Backsteps continued to perform and promote their material with sold-out shows in multiple cities around eastern Canada. The Backsteps success so far has helped their fanbase continue to grow, gaining them interest from a variety of areas across North America and abroad.

The Backsteps made their U.S. debut in March 2022 at the Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, sharing the stage with legendary Misfits guitarist Doyle. In Autumn of 2022, The Backsteps plan on their first east coast tour of the U.S.A. and plan to head back into the studio during the summer to record new material.
